Summer Camp

I just sat down at the computer to sign my daughter up for summer camp this year. It is the first year she is old enough to go and I am really struggling with how I feel about it. I am excited for her but sad she will be gone for a whole week in someone else's care and I won't get to talk to her. I can't believe she is old enough to be gone for a week. We have been going back and forth on whether or not we were going to send her because the camp starts the day J gets back from Canada and he probably won't get to see her until she comes back. Hopefully she will get put in the cabin with a girl from church that is going the same week. That would make me feel much better! The scary thing is next year Monkey will be old enough to go. OY.

What camp is she possibly going to? A friend of mine (female) is working Timber-Lee this summer. If I can have a vote, I say let her go, the summer camp experience can really have a major impact on a person.

I can see why you're having a hard time with that one! A week is a long time! I hope she has a wonderful experience!!

That's tough. I remember doing that as a little girl when I was 9 or 10. It was really cool. I can't imagine letting go like that! Good luck!

Oy is right! I would be having a tough time with that one myself. I have good and bad memories of going to camp when I was a kid, and I'd always worry about those types of issues with sending my kids. Plus the whole having somebody else be responsible for their well-being kind of freaks me out at this point. I guess I'll see how I feel about it in a few years!

I remember those days. I know how you feel. I can't believe my daughter is 23, next week she will be 24! I hope your daughter has a wonderful time!

My mom sent me away to camp at age 10, and I truly loved it. It was in New Hampshire and was beautiful and the leaders were fantastic and I made piles of freinds. I have nothing but very happy memories of it. I hope she has a wonderful time!

I sure do understand how hard it is to let her go, though. I have a terrible struggle with that myself.

I'm sort of having the same sort of stuggle at the moment.. My oldest has been going to church summer camp for years now.. that isn't the issue.. but my baby #2 is now old enough to go.. I signed him up.. but the week he is to be at camp I just found out that DH and I are to be taking Princess to her National softball tournament two states away.. I will be there to drop him off at camp but I would have to have my mom pick him up after camp and I would get home the next day after he gets home.. that is all fine.. I just don't know If I'm ready to be two states away from my baby boy when he is away at camp, I mean it is bad enough being 2 hours away when they are at camp and I"m at home.. not sure what I should do.. my oldest is looking forward to us going to the National championship tournament and wants me and her dad there, but What about #2 who will be at camp, what if he needs us or something happeneds and so on.. UGH UGH UGH..
