Stick a fork in ME...

***warning...I'm not feeling good and there will be complaining/venting going on here***
I'm done...totally and completely done with feeling like junk. I am not going to stop testing until I get an answer and an answer I feel is the correct answer, I tend to get things back saying everything is fine, though I still feel junky I stop being poked and prodded to give my body a rest. The diagnoses we've gotten so far seem inaccurate. I am so mad, sad and upset today. Yesterday I wasn't feeling well and as the day went on I felt worse. I took a sleeping pill and still couldn't fall asleep, because of the pain. I think I finally drifted off around 11:30 which was 2 1/2 hours after I took the "magic" pill. I was so annoyed. Then J went golfing this morning really early and he woke me up at 6 something and I wasn't able to fall back asleep. When my alarm finally went off I felt worse then I did last night. I tried eating my normal bagel and I only ate half. I feel nausea and keep having the stupid dry heaves. I also have been feeling a little light headed on top of that too. I made the decision this morning that I would have to stay home from GG field trip. It breaks my heart because I so wanted to go with her but I can't justify putting other kids at risk if I pass out at the zoo. She was so sad which hurt even more. I love her so much and she is such a sweet little girl. I hate what this is doing to her and how scared she gets when I don't feel good. The bad thing is I hide about 97% of my pain from her and the boys. Poor Peanut sees more because she is the baby, though I try and shield her from a lot of it too. I just want my insides gutted and rewired. Is that possible? The best way I have come to describe the pain is it feels like my organs are inflamed or swollen and any movement hurts them. Sometimes I get like muscle spasms on the inside of my body. It is the weirdest feeling and it hurts. The thing that ticks me off the most is that I go to the doctor (my primary) she sends me to the GI doc or the Rheumotolgist and then they run a bunch of test that show up with nothing, so they give me the generic diagnoses of Fibromyaglia and IBS. I want to go see a specialist to test for food allergies and help me with my diet needs. I really feel like I am allergic to a certain type of food or I have a lack of a certain vitamin. I need to work with someone who can get me vitamins that aren't going to kill my stomach. I also want them to look inside and see what is going on instead of just guessing. It has been way to long for this to be going on.

This has been going on since your c-section hasn't it? It is so scarey when they can't tell you what is wrong. Have they looked into the possibility that something could have been done wrong during the surgery. I've heard those horror stories where people have suffered in pain for years over a tiny leftover sponge or something that was left in their body. It sounds crazy, but could it be something like that?

Oh Tonya...I'm so sorry you are feeling crappy. I really hope the doctors figure out something soon. I am constantly reminding myself that this is the reason they call it "practicing medicine"! :-)

i had a friend who went through something kind of similar, and turned out she was allergic to like a million different foods (like WHEAT and gluten, things that are in everything)... i would definitely go to an allergist. get tested. if nothing else, you'll know that isn't the problem if the test comes back negative.

This started about 3 months after the c-section. I have had two cat scans of my body and I think that they would be able to detect a foreign object on either one of those. So I'm not thinking it has to do with something being left inside. I really feel like it is food related. Though they did test me for a wheat allergy and it came back negative. All I know is something isn't right!

Often times food "allergies" come back negative. That doesn't mean that you don't have food sensitivities. I would try a gluten/dairy free diet for a few weeks and see if you notice a difference. Check out www.elanaspantry.com for amazing gluten free recipes! As bad as you feel, I believe it's worth a try!!

I don't know what you've tried/not tried, but I think the idea of a gluten/dairy free diet even if just for a trial run of 4-6 weeks would be a good idea.
Another thing that has helped me (with symptoms much milder) is to start acidophilus. I have heard the refridgerated kind is best. I get that kind and take a pill 20-60 minutes after I eat 3 times a day. After 2 weeks of this any stomach upset I have been having will be completely gone. I find that I need to do this about 2-3 times a year. Feeling as bad as you are, it would be worth trying those two things as they would be fairly simple and not much effort wasted if they don't work.

Tonya,

I check in on your blog once in a while, but I don't know if I have ever left a comment. My friend, Kari, over at Thing 1 and Thing 2 has you linked on her sidebar. It is just a quick trip from there.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you have been feeling so bad. I have no medical background so am in no way an expert. I did want to tell you that I once read a book called The Maker's Diet that is based on a natural diet. I was experiencing IBS and someone recommended the book to me. I didn't follow it, but took some good ideas and advice away from it. I don't know if it was written by or based on the story of a man experiencing a lot of different symptoms and had been diagnosed with Chron's. He was basically given a death sentence by docs and sent home to die. His dad found a nutritionist who said he needed to live by "God's diet." I just googled to look for the author and found a connected website www.makersdiet.com Please feel free to take or leave this information. The book has been around a while so you can probably find it at the library. I'll be praying for you.

I'm so sorry you're still dealing with this. It's so frustrating. I think the diet thing is a good avenue to explore.

Oh Tonya, I'm so sorry you're feeling bad. I wish I could do something to help make you feel better. I will pray that the docs get to the bottom of what's going on. In the meantime, I'll also pray for strength to get through the days and for you to start feeling better.
Love and hugs,
Happi

P.S. I just read what Jody wrote (Kari's friend), and she's right. That may be a really good book to check out (The Maker's Diet). Jerry has researched that guy and read the book, and I think he has some really good ideas for nutrition and such. I also agree with another poster about food sensitivities versus actual food allergies. Might be worth investigating...

Tonya, I am so sorry you're hurting. I will pray that God will direct you to the person who can help... nutritionist, homeopath...etc.

Tonya, I'm sorry to hear you're having such a rough time, and I will definitely keep you and your whole family in my prayers. I hate to add to the whole string of suggestions here, but I imagine something's gotta be right, right? I just happened to be talking to my mom about Lyme's disease last night. What you've been describing sounds really similar to what I've heard about it. I've also heard that is it SUPER hard to diagnose. If you've ever been bitten by a deer tick or think you may have been, you may want to look into it. The good news about it is, they do have a treatment for it that will really help with it.
Again, I will be praying that God leads you and your doctors in the right direction, and that you can figure out what is going on with you and get it fixed! Hang in there! Much love and hugs to you.

Tonya,

This sounds so much like Christi. I am no help to you since we still have no clue what is wrong after two years, but everything you describe sounds just like her. Are your inflamation levels really high? That's what it sounds like. Christi's are aff the chart. Have you tried to go gluten free? That's what we just got done trying here, but it didn't seem to help at all.

I truly feel for you. I hope you get some answers soon.

Martie

By the way, Tonya, my mom does NOT test positive for celiac, but she has COMPLETE gluten intolerance. This is fairly common, especially with those whose bloodlines come from certain soecific areas in Europe including Ireland. There are many new bits of info coming out about this. It may be worth looking into.

Sorry, friend!
