Winter Retreat!

This weekend Jeff and I went on winter retreat with our junior high group. We had 17 kids 10 of which were girls. This was my first time going on a retreat as a leader and not a student. What a difference it is to be on the other end of it. I almost think it was more exhausting to be a leader! It was certainly more responsibility to be a leader than a student! We did have a few injuries which is a bummer. One of the girls chipped her tooth pretty bad and another kid stuck his tongue on a pole outside. I'll just say that months bleed A LOT. Other than that there were some really great conversations and questions being asked by the girls. I'm sure the boys did too but I really only talked and conversed with the girls. Not that I didn't talk to any of the boys but real deep conversations were had with the girls in my cabin and small group. The gospel message with clearly laid out to my group of girls several times through the weekend no one made a commitment that I know of but they are definitely thinking about what it means to live for God. The kids learned: "Being a Christian comes down to 2 things. Loving God and loving others. We can love others because God first loved us. Loving God means obedience." This was something the whole group said to remember what we learned. It was truly an amazing weekend. I am so thankful that I was able to find people to watch my kidlets so that I could go and be fully present with the students. They had so much fun with the people they were with. We split them up and I think that helped a lot because when we got home they played so great together!!!
