Painting away boredom!

I had bought the kids bird houses for them to paint last summer but being lazy pregnant I just never got around to letting them paint. But after seeing how much fun they had and how easy it was letting them do it, meaning that they weren't that messy outside :) I have been looking for other things they can paint. Any ideas?

Look how fun!

The finished product...

Peanut playing with grass

Where's your nose?

I really don't love Peanut more then the other kids but she is just so photo genetic! And she's a baby :) I do have a lot more pictures of the other kids painting...but you get the idea.

Ooooo! First of all I love bird houses, ones painted by kids are the best!
I love that painting smock-thingy on Red...where'd you get that?

Oh, Peanut is adorable! We usually just paint on paper, but we have painted piggy banks before.

Michaels has tons of really cheap wooden photo frames, butterfly houses and other projects that can be painted ... maybe they can make their own bedroom door signs.

Also if you have a Home Depot near you, the older ones might enjoy building a project and then bringing it home to paint ... it's free once a month.

Not sure if you have Wal Mart close by but in their craft section they have some unfinished wooden things that the kids could paint, also at our Dollar stores we find some of the same things sometimes.

And I think even "cooler" to paint would be buying them some canvases like from the art section of a Hobby Lobby or Michael's and letting them be little Picasso's on a canvas.

Thanks everyone! Those are some really cool ideas :) I will check them out for sure.

Also, remember that those ideas can be turned into gifts for grandparents and such.

Love Peanut's face. How can you NOT photograph a baby? They're changing every minute!

Yes, Michael's has those 99 cent wood things they can paint...also, I don't know if garage sales are big where you are...but I love getting anything wood at a garage sale, a chair, a bookcase, anything, and making it a painting project. You can also look at thrift stores. Thrift stores or garage sales sometimes have cheap old canvas paintings that you can get and paint white, then let the kids paint whatever they want!! Good luck!

This is just a thought, but I've seen kids have a ball painting the driveway with big paint brushes and buckets of water. (Who'da thought?) Something else I've seen (haven't tried it yet, though) is to do sidewalk chalk, then smear it with the paintbrushes and water. It's really pretty, actually. If it's a really hot day, put the kids in swimsuits and let 'em at it.

I know I probably take more pics of Selah right now too- it's just the way it goes, and they change so quick, and our memories fade so fast- we have to catch it all on film!
